Designating impenetrable internal fronts due to human body’s tremendous self protection and analyzing the tissue and cell behavior of the scenes of the journey to the human body in the movie “Fantastic Voyage”, geometry of the organics and forms was obtained and applied to the architecture structure in terms of cosmetics and function as a visual theme for the group’s hospital for higher segments.

In period of focality, there is a changing point in which patients realize the world surrounds them. Bird voices, sunlight coming outside or even space itself can be the perceived facts by patient. The sudden interest of patient to the outer world can be called the first sign of “healing”. At this point the fittings intended the positive and indwelling effects of space on patient, become essential helpers in healing process. So our aim is to provide spaces that patient and visitors can be in contact as long as they stay in. When designing healing spaces we again inspire from the methods of healing. There is struggle in body to be well and also there is a struggle in nature to soften the sharp edges. We carry this struggle to our design with micro and macro scales of human being in life.

The crystallized forms in lobby become more organic in patient room floors like the aim of nature. These organic forms are also necessary for patient safety. The hospitals are active spaces of sudden and urgent behaviors. So variable scenarios are planned with “patient centered design” principles. The modern  hospitals are designed to be functional, reachable, social, secure, caring about personal space and offering possibilities to the users. Because of medical necessities, aesthetics factor used to be ignored in hospital design. But now a synthesis of all these factors is provided for the patients. Patients deserve creative spaces as much as healthy people do. With up-to-date materials, patient centered lighting and innovative solutions, desirable spaces can be provided for patients and their visitors.

The patient centered design aims to make the patient feel comfortable. So patient should be far away from uncomfortable idea of being in hospital. In patient room in which the patient spends most time, indirect lighting is used to give a soft ambience of being at home. Also in patient corridors the irritating appearance of mechanic equipments is hidden with an aluminum ceiling net. LED lighting behind the wall guards are aim to patient reach easily even in night scenario.

Liv Hospital Project was aimed to be one of the most innovative hospitals on healthcare sector with the insistence of the employer as a result of the concept works that lasted … months and finally approved by the employer and the construction was completed.

The distinctive factor of the concept was the hygiene oriented focus and how we could interpret the cult science fiction movie “Fantastic Voyage” which depicts the human body.

Medical and architectural planning determined by the employer and questions such as how it can be implemented and which materials are suitable were scrutinized, additional intensive work made on details and samples and all of the details were surveyed repeatedly and implemented subsequently with the collaboration of employer and manufacturers.

Chosen materials and forms are substantially innovative and far from mediocrity, and were chosen with the aim to create a technologic and healing atmosphere where people feel safe.

A futuristic atmosphere and environment was created within the awareness of the fact that people should feel safe and welcome in a hospital where they usually feel the most vulnerable.
